Charter for Environmentally Sustainable Self-Care

Launched in November 2021, the GSCF Charter for Environmentally Sustainable Self-Care is the first industry-wide climate action initiative for the consumer health sector. Over 26 signatories — including all major company members and associations — have committed to measurable environmental targets.

The Charter represents a collective commitment to reduce the environmental footprint of the self-care industry and contribute to global sustainability goals.

Priority Areas

Signatories focus on three key priority areas:

  • Plastics and Packaging — Reducing plastic use, increasing recyclability, and promoting sustainable packaging solutions.
  • Pharmaceuticals in the Environment — Minimising the environmental impact of pharmaceutical residues through improved manufacturing, disposal, and product design.
  • CO2 Footprint — Reducing greenhouse gas emissions across operations and supply chains.
